The whiskey sour is a classic cocktail that has been around since the 1870s. This is a relatively lightweight cocktail when compared to the Manhattan or a Jack and Coke; however, it’s delicious and easy to drink.
The whiskey sour is a classy drink that needs to be poured correctly.
If you find that the Whiskey Sour is too sweet, ask your bartender to add a little more whiskey.
You could easily add too much simple syrup which drowns out the flavor of the whiskey. When this happens it takes away from the flavor and balance that the cocktail is supposed to have.
When you drown out the flavor of the whiskey it makes it a whole lot easier to drink; causing you to have one too many. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I don’t condone binge drinking, but this is a sure-fire way to put you on the road to debauchery!
Please remember to always drink responsibly!
This cocktail is easy to mix with only three basic ingredients. There are several different versions of this cocktail, but the recipe below is my favorite.
- 2oz Bourbon
- ¾ oz lemon juice
- ¾ oz simple syrup
- (Optional) 1 Tbsp red wine
- Maraschino cherry and an orange slice to garnish
