If you’re a new visitor to UltiUber Life, welcome!  Many of my followers are interested in knowing how I started the blog and about its success. I’m excited to give you a little background on how I started and where I am today.

UltiUber Life is a men’s lifestyle resource that is loaded with great posts that include, stories, advice, reviews, and special deals.  Although UltiUber Life falls under the men’s lifestyle niche, it’s been widely popular among women too.

Starting Out

A short 15 months ago I started the UltiUber Life blog.  My initial goal was to pick up a side hustle to make some extra money after the birth of my youngest son so that his mom could quit her job to be a stay-at-home mom.

When I learned that people were making thousands of dollars per month from blogging within the first year, I really wanted to get in on the action!

After doing extensive research, choosing a niche, and building my website, I was on my way.  I knew that it was going to take a couple of months to get everything set up.  So, I paced myself and made a goal to write at least one post per day.

Some of my early posts were really short, but they still got the message across.  Writing one post a day may sound easy, but when you’re working a full-time job and have a new baby in the house it’s very difficult to find the time.  So, after the family went to bed I got to work.  I quickly learned that I had to speed up my pace if I wanted to be successful. It was exhausting, but I was committed to getting UltiUber Life off the ground.

Blogging is a Business

Anyone starting a business knows that it takes commitment and courage to make the dream successful. There were many days where I questioned if this were the right fit for me.  I was tired, broke, and I certainly didn’t make thousands of bucks in the first 6 months.  I did, however, have companies reach out to me offering me products in exchange for a written review.

In all honesty, there were some products that I really wasn’t too excited to write about.  But I needed the content for my website, and I knew that whatever I wrote about would help open up some new opportunities.

Today, I’m very selective about what I write about and who I partner with.  If I don’t feel that a product or service will resonate well with my audience, I’ll pass on it.  My goal is to always provide great content and not just fluff; I want my audience to be engaged and care about what I have to say.

Finding My Audience

Attracting visitors is one of the most difficult tasks when it comes to blogging.  There is so much more to being a blogger than writing posts.  Marketing is a key component of building this type of business and you need to know how to market your site, including what tools to use to get you there. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is one of the toughest tools to get a handle on, but it’s also the tool that will bring in visitors.  When you perform a search on Google, the search engine goes to work to find you the best content.  If I don’t put in the work to tell Google how to look for my content, you would never find UltiUber Life.

Social Media has also played a huge part in helping me find my audience.  I try to post to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter daily to help keep everyone engaged and to pick up some new visitors. All this work is in the hope of getting my word out and making a couple of bucks.

Making Money

In addition to writing and accepting free stuff from companies, I signed up for affiliate marketing programs.  These programs provide me with a small commission from each sale, which is typically 5% to 10% of the sale amount.  However, it wasn’t until a few months ago when I made my first $10.00! Woo hoo!  I was finally starting to see a return on my investment.  Since then, I have a fairly steady income of $200 – $300 per month.  I know that doesn’t sound like much, but it takes time to build this business and make it successful.

Wrapping Up

Whoever says that blogging is easy money, is dead wrong.  It takes a lot of dedication, a slew of late nights, and a huge helping of creativity to become successful.  I’m still far away from where I want to be.  But UltiUber Life is still in its infancy with a ton of room to grow.

If you’re interested in getting started as a blogger/influencer as a side hustle, make sure that you do your research, find your niche, and be prepared to work your tail off!
